Subtropical Storm Nicole Sandbag Distribution Information

Tropical Storm Nicole Updates (11/10/22):

Our Public Works emergency response team made it's initial sweep through our neighborhoods early this morning and we are thankful to report no major occurrences. The full assessment team will be out again, starting at 6:30 a.m. tomorrow, to make a thorough documentation of any storm related damage.

City offices and facilities will be closed until Monday, November 14th at 8:30 a.m.

Volusia County has declared a curfew in incorporated and unincorporated areas east of the Intracoastal Waterway from 11:22 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, through 7 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11.

The CIC remains open. If you need additional storm relation information, or need to make a storm related report, please contact them at 866-345-0345. You can also visit volusia.org/PIN for up to date information.

Waste Pro will resume solid waste collection on Saturday, November 12th. Your normal Friday pickup will occur on Saturday instead. 

Tropical Storm Nicole Updates (11/9/22):

Traffic signals: Some traffic signals may not be operating. If you approach an intersection that is not operable, you must treat it as a four-way stop.

Downed power lines and outages: If you see a downed line, assume that it’s electrified and don’t touch it or go near it. Report it to your power company as well as the Citizens Information Center at 866-345-0345.

Tropical Storm Nicole Updates (11/8/22):

  • Office Closings:  All City of DeBary offices and facilities will be closed effective 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 and will re-open on Monday, November 14, 2022, at 8:30 a.m. Storm-related calls should be directed to the Volusia Emergency Operations Center at 866-345-0345.  If you leave a message at City Hall, it will not be answered until City Hall re-opens on Monday, November 14th at 8:30 a.m.
  • WastePro: Waste Collection has been canceled Thursday, November 10th.  Service for Friday will be evaluated.
  • Shelter: There will be one shelter open in West Volusia County starting on Wednesday evening. This shelter will be accepting pets.
    • Heritage Middle school (1001 Parnell Court, Deltona)
  • Curfew: A curfew for Volusia County has been established.  The curfew is from 7p.m. Wednesday, November 9, 2022, until 7 a.m. Thursday, November 10, 2022.
  • All City of DeBary Parks & Recreation events, practices, and games are canceled on Wednesday and Thursday and Friday events will be evaluated. 

November 7, 2022 -

The City of DeBary has begun implementing our storm preparedness plan while we closely monitor Subtropical Storm Nicole. As we prepare, the City will be distributing sandbags to residents in the back parking lot of Gateway Center for the Arts at 880 HWY 17/92 DeBary, FL 32713.

Please remember to bring your own shovel and I.D. (or proof of DeBary Residency). Sandbag distribution will take place during the following dates and times, weather permitting.

  • Tuesday, November 8, 2022: 8 am–6 pm
  • Wednesday, November 9, 2022: 8 am-noon
