NEW! SERVICE for VOLUSIA COUNTY RESIDENTS

Volusia County has launched VolusiaHelps a free online and in-app resource to connect residents with services in 13 different categories. Services include:

  • Disability & Senior Services
  • Education & Employment
  • Health & Housing
  • Infant & Child Care
  • and more

COUNCIL ON AGING

The Council on Aging of Volusia County is a non-profit organization focused on providing vital services exclusively to Volusia County seniors. They offer a range of services from senior center activities, chore services, meal delivery, and reassurance phone calls to in-home care, respite care, and guardianship. Services are either grant or donation funded, which means services are provided at no cost or low-cost to those that qualify. Services can also be provided on a private pay basis. 

CHORE SERVICES

COA provides light chore services to our elderly clients such as installations of grab bars in bathrooms, small painting projects, changing outlet cover plates, and other minor repairs. Please contact Customer Service at 386.253.4700 x 225.

MEAL SERVICES

COA operates neighborhood dining sites throughout Volusia County. The program provides meals and social interaction for local seniors who are able to drive or take public transportation. Home delivery of meals is available for those that qualify or food can be purchased at full price.  For more information about meal services click here.

NEIGHBORHOOD DINING SITES & SENIOR CENTERS

COA has seven neighborhood dining sites throughout Volusia County. The dining sites are open Monday - Friday from 9:00 am until 1:30 pm. Reservations are required one week prior to visiting a COA neighborhood dining site. This allows time to register your information and place food orders. You can make reservations by calling your local neighborhood dining site coordinator. LOCAL SENIOR CENTERS

COA has four senior activity centers throughout Volusia County.  The centers are open Monday - Friday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and offer activities such as games, dancing, exercise classes, educational programs, and arts and crafts.  Each center has specific activities which are subject to change. Seniors can pay a small fee to join the center of their choice and to access all the centers. You can access the most current activities calendar by visiting the website of the senior activity center nearest to you or by visiting the COA website

PETS MEALS ON WHEELS 

COA and Hush Puppy Haven have partnered to provide pet food, treats, and supplies to the pets of Meals on Wheels clients. For more information about this program call COA at 386-253-4700 or visit the COA website at https://www.coavolusia.org/meal-services/index

GUARDIANSHIP

Professional guardians look after seniors who are no longer able to handle their own affairs. COA is appointed as Public Guardian or Corporate Guardian (Private-Pay) by the 7th Judicial Circuit Court when family and friends are unavailable. For more information click here

RESPITE CARE

Respite care is available to the caregivers of seniors with early stage dementia. Seniors engage in activities, while the care givers receive support with coping skills and alleviating stress. COA's Respite Care program also offers support groups for caregivers. Support groups meet once a month for one hour. For more information call 386-253-4700 extension 204.

PRIVATE - PAY SERVICES

Private-Pay COA In-Home Services provide comfort and independence to older adults. They provide the following:

  • Personal care (bathing, dressing/grooming)
  • Grocery shopping
  • Transportation to doctor's appointments
  • Lite homemaking & cooking
  • Companionship
  • Running errands

LOCAL PROGRAMS 

PICKLEBALL

ADULTS Ages 50+ FREE Drop In Program. No registration required.

We are ready to bring back our Adult Pickleball Program on our newly resurfaced courts at Bill Keller Park!

When:  Tuesday mornings 8:30am-10:30am

Fall: September 12 - December 12, 2023  (14 Sessions)

Spring: January 9 - May 14, 2024 (20 sessions)

Where: Bill Keller Park Pickleball Courts (338 Colomba Rd.)

Join us on Tuesday mornings at Bill Keller Park on the above dates for Drop in Pickleball. No fees or registration required. Make sure to arrive by 8:30am! All skill levels welcome!

No paddle, no pickleballs, no problem. Paddles and balls provided.

JAZZERCISE

Jazzercise is a contracted program in partnership with the City of DeBary. Please contact the instructor below for amore information or to register!

When: Tuesday and Thursday 11:00am - Noon
Registration: All registrations taken on class days prior to the start of class.  Instructors take all registrations not the City of DeBary. Space is limited, all passes sold on a first come first serve basis.

Cost
$40/month for unlimited classes
$70.00 for a 10 class pass (3 Month Expiration)
$10.00 per class for a single class.
