Hurricane Season is June 1st - November 30th

Hurricanes are not just a coastal problem. Hurricane effects such as storms, high winds, and flooding can also affect DeBary, so it's important to start preparing now.

There are many ways to prepare for Hurricane Season, and it is never too late to do so. Review our City information regarding storm preparation & storm survival, along with the useful documents attached below to stay informed and ready for any storm.

Stay Informed & Updated Throughout Hurricane Season

BEFORE the Storm Arrives

  • Whether you plan to evacuate or shelter in place, you and your family should have an emergency kit prepared and filled with all necessary items for ALL members of your household. Learn what you should have in your emergency kit HERE

AFTER the Storm

  • Do not touch any downed power lines.  Report them to Duke Energy
  • Immediately following a storm, City staff will inspect each road in the City noting debris spread, and assign priorities for clearing.   The top priorities are clearing blocked roads, clearing neighborhoods with power outages to allow electrical crews access, and ensuring emergency vehicle access.  Debris on lawns will be cleared following high-priority spots.  Homeowners should not move debris from their lawns into roadways.  Anyone moving debris into the roadway will incur fines.  Depending on the severity of the storm and the number of blocked roads, it may be days before debris on lawns can be cleared. Please be patient as we help fellow citizens with electrical outages or blocked roads.
