  1. Check zoning to make sure your desired location is zoned for your business industry.  To check zoning, please call our Growth Management Department’s Planning Technician at 386-601-0210. 
  2. Register your business on Sunbiz.  You can get information on starting a business in Florida here.
  3. If your home-based or commercial business is located within DeBary, you will need to apply for a business tax receipt from the City of DeBary.  You can get information on obtaining your City Business Tax Receipt here  JULY 2022 UPDATE:  The City of DeBary will be switching to an online portal, Citizenserve, that will be going live July 1st. This online portal will allow you to renew and make payments online for your business tax receipt. You will also be able to print your business tax receipt directly from this portal, after payment is received. You will be sent a separate email with specific login information for your business as well as a link to access the portal.
  4. Businesses in Volusia County also need a county Business Tax Receipt.  You can get information on obtaining your County Business Tax Receipt here
