3:City Hall will resume normal operations tomorrow beginning at 8:30am.

VOLUSIA COUNTY EMERGENCY OPERATIONS CENTER

Volusia County’s Emergency Operations Center will remain under a level 2 activation today and will resume standard operations tomorrow, Aug. 31. The Citizens Information Center will remain open until 7 p.m. tonight (8/30). Residents may call 866-345-0345 for hurricane related questions.

WASTEPRO TRASH PICK-UPS:

As of 7:00am, WastePro is currently picking up regularly scheduled Wednesday pickups.  This includes the areas of Glen Abbey and DeBary Country Clubs. 

POWER OUTAGES

Residents who lose power at their home or business should contact their power company for updates on power restoration:

FLORIDA POWER AND LIGHT

VOTRAN SCHEDULE 

Votran has reinstated operations on select routes and is progressing toward complete route restoration by noon today. Because of potential obstructions caused by Hurricane Idalia, riders may experience occasional delays and detours. Votran’s Flex Service resumed operations earlier this morning.

As of this morning, fares are again being collected. Riders are advised to stay informed by referring to the latest route updates on the myStop mobile app or by visiting https://www.votran.org.

As of 5:45 p.m., all City sandbag distributions have ended due to inclement weather.

WASTEPRO TRASH PICK-UPS:

At this time, WastePro is reporting no change for the upcoming week in debris pick-up.

VOLUNTARY EVACUATIONS & SHELTERS

Volusia County has issued a voluntary evacuation recommendation beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29. People who live in RVs, mobile homes, or low-lying areas may wish to find accommodations with friends or family members. People in these high-risk areas may use public shelters as a site of last resort.

Volusia County and the Florida Department of Health in Volusia County will open shelters at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, at these locations:

  • Volusia County Fairgrounds, 3150 E. New York Ave., DeLand (general population and pets)
  • Hester Building, Volusia County Fairgrounds (individuals who lack permanent housing)
  • Florida Department of Health, 1845 Holsonback Drive, Daytona Beach (special needs shelter)

CLOSURES AND CANCELATIONS

  • City Hall offices will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, August 30, 2023 due to Hurricane Idalia. Operations will resume on Thursday, August 31, 2023.
  • City Parks and Facilities will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, August 30, 2023.
  • SunRail will suspend service tonight until further notice. For additional information, visit https://www.sunrail.com.
  • Volusia County Schools will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday 8/30/23. At this time they are anticipated to reopen on Thursday, 8/31/23. Updates will continue to be made available on their website.
  • Votran bus services are suspended starting 5 p.m. on Tuesday (8/29/23). The closure will affect all Volusia County routes.
  • All 14 branches of the Volusia County Public Library will close at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29. They will reopen at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30. Residents who lose power can use any branch as a cooling station

TROPICAL STORM IDALIA DEBUZZ EMAIL NOTIFICATION

The City of DeBary is actively monitoring Tropical Storm Idalia. All DeBary residents should be in storm preparation mode; please confirm that you are prepared and restock your emergency supply kit as needed. Learn more about Hurricane Kits.

SANDBAG DISTRIBUTION

Sandbags will be distributed during the following times in the Town Hall parking lot (12 Colomba Road):

  • Monday, 8/28/23, from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m.
  • Tuesday, 8/29/23, from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m.

*ALL SANDBAG DISTRIBUTIONS ARE WEATHER PERMITTING*

Please bring your own shovel and proof of DeBary residency. Bags and sand will be provided. Maximum of 10 bags per household.

Volusia County will open its Citizens Information Center from noon to 6 p.m. on Aug. 28. It will also be open 24 hours beginning Tuesday, Aug. 29, until further notice. Residents may call 866-345-0345 for information about the storm, sandbags, disaster preparation, and community resources.

The NOAA National Hurricane Center has issued a Tropical Storm Watch for Volusia County. This means a tropical storm with winds of 39 to 73 mph poses a possible threat within 48 hours. The watch does not mean tropical storm conditions will occur; it only means these conditions are possible.
