The City of DeBary is seeking a Director of Economic Development.   This is a very unique opportunity for the right person.  DeBary has numerous economic development strategic initiatives and opportunities.  First, DeBary has the northernmost SunRail station in Central Florida.  It has developed a Transit-Oriented Development Overlay District (TOD) to encourage high density, mixed use growth associated with trending lifestyles.  Second, within the TOD area, DeBary has designated an area to become a “Main Street.” DeBary does not currently have a downtown but City Leadership envisions a place that will become just that.  Third, in DeBary’s City corridor, marketing in-fill commercial lots as well as redevelopment opportunities are key to its revitalization and beautification.  And Fourth, DeBary needs to improve its partnerships with the current businesses in DeBary.  Developing these relationships will strengthen our community and promote long-term economic success.

The person fortunate enough to join our team will play an integral role in making the imagined a dream come true.  In addition to the marketing activities inherent in any Economic Development position, we picture this person will also bring a site and/or land development and/or community development perspective.  This position will be very “hands-on” with the ideal candidate bringing a blend of abilities that would include site development and marketing. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Economics, Urban Planning, Public or Business Administration, Marketing or a related field from an accredited college or university; and five (5) years related experience and training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Salary range $63,791.92 - $95,687.88, based on qualifications.
