RESCHEDULING NOTICE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 11, 2019 AND AD VALOREM TAX AND BUDGET PUBLIC HEARINGS

RESCHEDULING NOTICE

CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 11, 2019

AD VALOREM TAX AND BUDGET PUBLIC HEARINGS

Due to circumstances beyond our control, please be advised that the City Council meeting scheduled for September 11, 2019 at 6:30pm has been rescheduled to September 18, 2019 at 6:30pm in the Council Chambers at City Hall located at 16 Colomba Rd in DeBary, Florida.

On the September 11th Council meeting, two public hearings were scheduled, Adoption of the Tentative Millage Rate for the Levy of Ad Valorem Tax for Fiscal Year 2019-2020 and Adoption of the Tentative Annual Operating Budget for Fiscal Year 2019-2020.  Due to Hurricane Dorian, public hearings throughout the state are being rescheduled.  The Florida Department of Revenue (FDOR) issued an Emergency Order #19-001 mandating advance notice of the rescheduled public hearings by advertising in the local paper within 2-5 days prior of said hearings.  You can view the FDOR Emergency Order attached below.

Following the Emergency Order, the City of DeBary properly submitted the paperwork and received confirmation to have the legal advertisement run in the News Journal on Sunday, September 8, 2019.  The News Journal failed to run the legal advertisement in their Sunday edition.  The News Journal has sent a Letter of Apology,  attached below.

Since we could not meet the legal advertising requirements, we must reschedule the public hearings.  The agenda for the rescheduled Council Meeting on September 18, 2019 will be posted by Friday, September 13, 2019 on the City of DeBary website.  The legal advertisement for the public hearings will run in the News Journal newspaper on Saturday, September 14, 2019 and/or Sunday, September 15, 2019.
