City of DeBary to hold July 4 celebration in 2021

DeBary City Council voted unanimously on March 3rd to bring back their July 4 celebration for the summer of 2021. The event was canceled in 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions.

The popular free event held in Gemini Springs features fireworks, food and beverage vendors, live entertainment, family friendly activities, and more. Coordinated by the City’s Parks and Recreation staff, the celebration hosts hundreds of families from around the region. The event will begin at 4:00 p.m. and conclude at 11:00 p.m., with fireworks beginning at approximately 9:15p.m.

“We have heard from our residents that this is an event they want to see this year” stated DeBary City Manager Carmen Rosamonda. “With the rate of infection dropping, and the vaccine more widely available each week, the risk of exposure will be drastically mitigated by July.  We are confident we can manage this event in a safe manner with post-pandemic guidelines in place.”

Approximately 20% of Floridians have been vaccinated according to Florida Department of Health statistics.  Over the next three months, it is anticipated that everyone who wants a vaccine will be able to obtain one.  Staff are working on safety protocols and will follow all CDC and Florida Department of Health guidelines in place at that time to ensure residents can safely enjoy the festivities.
