C.E.R.T. Community Emergency Response Team

In the event of a disaster, regular emergency services from the City, state, and federal resources may be stretched to their limits. CERT training prepares individuals to take care of themselves and each other during the hours immediately following a disaster.

The City of DeBary offers free training classes to residents over the age of 18, with hands-on demonstrations of the basic skills they will require to respond to their community’s immediate needs in the aftermath of a major disaster. CERT classes are held at Florence K. Little Town Hall and consist of the following programs:

Basic Personal  Preparedness  Search & Rescue
Disaster First Aid I Pre-Storm Operation
Disaster First Aid II Post-Storm Operation/Disaster Psychology
Fire Suppression Responding to Terrorism

Upon completion of a course, classes tour Volusia County’s Emergency Operations Center and Emergency Services Institute and Fire Training Center
in Daytona Beach. See links at right.
