Before burning please contact fire department to learn if there is a burn ban in effect
Fire Station 33 DeBary 386-668-3805 Non-Emergency
Severe wind or extreme dry conditions would warrant a refusal to allow controlled burning. These conditions will be determined by evaluation of daily fire weather conditions and the Division of Forestry daily burn index.
BURN HOURS ARE FROM 9:00 AM UNTIL ONE (01) HOUR BEFORE SUNSET.
The yard debris MUST be only leaves, small limbs or other vegetation. Absolutely NO garbage, petroleum products, tires, or other materials not classified as dead vegetation will be allowed.
The material must be burned in a container such as a barrel or heavy wire container with a wire cover to prevent ashes and sparks from spreading.
The fire MUST be watched from the time of ignition until it is out. An extinguishing appliance such as a water hose must be available close enough to the fire for extinguishment if necessary.
Please Observe these required setbacks:
25 feet at least from any wild lands and brush
25 feet from your home or combustible structure
50 feet from any paved public roadway
150 feet from
any occupied building other than that owned or leased by the individual doing the burning.
Absolutely no gasoline, kerosene, or other hazardous materials can be used for ignition.
The fire is attended and adequate fire extinguishing equipment is readily available at all times
In the event of a reasonable complaint from a neighbor, the fire will be extinguished by the person or persons responsible for the fire. The Battalion Chief may make the final determination as to whether or not there has been a reasonable complaint or if the fire constitutes a hazard.
To obtain a burn permit, call the Florida Forest Service at 386-446-6787 or 386-446-6789.
If your fire escapes, you are liable for costs of suppression and damage to the property of others.
IN ALL CASES, BURNING MUST BE CONSTANTLY SUPERVISED. ANY DEVIATION FROM THESE RULES WILL BE ONLY BY PERMISSION OF THE CITY OF DEBARY FIRE CHIEF.
