Curfew that has been lifted
City of DeBary SealThe countywide nighttime curfew that has been in place from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. due to Hurricane Irma is being lifted and will no longer be in effect starting tonight. We want to thank all those affected by this storm for their cooperation and understanding through the recovery.

Lifting of the curfew DOES NOT mean that looting, loitering, prowling, burglary, theft or any other criminal activity will be tolerated. Our deputies and law enforcement officers across Volusia County will be paying special attention to vulnerable areas, including those still without power, to detect, prevent and interrupt crime.

Now is also a good time to remember to protect yourself against post-hurricane scam artists looking to cash in on your hardship. Don't let yourself become a victim. Tell solicitors no thanks. Don't use unlicensed contractors. Don't give anyone a deposit. Don't let unknown people into your home. Don't be rushed, pitched, bullied or intimidated. If you're uneasy, trust your instincts. If you're suspicious, call us. 386-248-1777 or 911 in an emergency. More contact numbers for our district offices are at volusiasheriff dot org. We'll be here.
