The City received a request from Volusia County Public Works to allow authorization to the County for the construction, installation and future maintenance of a nutrient separating baffle box within the Mansion Boulevard right-of-way, a City-owned corridor, at the intersection with Dirksen Drive.
As part of the permitting requirements by the St. Johns River Water Management District, and if approved by City Council, the City has been requested to issue a letter granting Volusia County authorization to submit the corresponding Environmental Resource Permit (ERP) application on behalf of the City, as well as to construct, install and maintain the baffle box. The City Engineer shall review the design and construction plans prior to construction.
Volusia County is undertaking a stormwater retrofit project geared to improving the water quality of stormwater runoff that discharges into the DeBary Bayou by installing nutrient separating baffle boxes at strategically-chosen locations upstream of the Bayou. The intersection of Mansion Boulevard and Dirksen Drive has been identified by the County as one of those locations.
Request Council approval for the requested installation of a baffle box on Mansion Boulevard by Volusia County.
