During the March 15th budget workshop it was the consensus of the Council to move forward this fiscal year to install fiber optic cable between City Hall, Florence K. Little Town Hall and the new Fire Department building under construction. This should be done to enhance the network capabilities of the City and before the fire department rear parking area is paved, thus saving the City any additional expense after the parking area is completed. Addition of the fiber optic cable will be cost savings of approximately $3,600.00 per year in internet operating cost.
Better bandwidth and reliability over the existing service.
Will aid the City more flexibility for overflow meetings in Florence K. Little Town Hall.
Can be used in the future replacement of FKL Town Hall.
Can be extended to the old fire station building (or future building within the City Hall complex).
One contractor, Traffic Control Devices, Inc. has a contract with the Seminole County for Fiber Optic Cable and IT Systems. The City of DeBary is able to piggy-back this contract to expedite the construction of our fiber optic cable installation.
Recommended motion to approve the contract with Traffic Control Devices, Inc. not to exceed $24,000.00. Funds are available in the existing Fire Station Capital Fund.
