The budget process for next fiscal year is approaching. Staff would like to initiate discussions with the Council in order to obtain guidance on budget priorities for the upcoming budget.

The process will begin by examining general fund revenues, their sources and authorized uses as well as the programs and services provided by the general fund. The general fund is the largest fund by expenditures and provides a variety of services and programs as diverse as police and fire to mowing right of ways and inspecting new construction to operating the city' park system.

After discussion of the sources and uses of general fund revenue staff would like to engage the Council in beginning to consider and discuss expectations and priorities for next year. The discussion of general fund priorities will continue at the May Workshop.

Attached for your information and review are worksheets that discuss the general fund revenue sources and provides information on the amount we expect each revenue source to generate and the cost centers that make up the general fund.
